Who We Are

Who We Are

Our mission at Crossroads is to CONNECT PEOPLE WITH GOD.  We believe that God loves you the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way.  He wants you to become more like Him!

Who We Are:

Our goal at Crossroads is that everyone in our family will be committed to the following principles:

1. CONNECT with God.

Our mission at Crossroads is to CONNECT PEOPLE WITH GOD.

This is the “Why” behind everything we do.  It’s why we do outreach events throughout the year.  It’s why we are “one church with multiple locations”.  It’s why we go all out all the time.  We create as many opportunities as possible so that we can connect people with Jesus!

This is our response to “The Great Commission”

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20

Core Value: We are committed to MAKING DISCIPLES.

    We target people for Christ.

We act with a sense of urgency.

    We CONNECT people with God!

2. CELEBRATE the Change.

We believe that God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way.  He wants you to become more like Him.

In our mission to connect people with God, we continually target outsiders for Christ, and consistently challenge insiders to take the next steps in their faith.  When we see God begin to transform peoples lives, we CELEBRATE THE CHANGE!

This is our response toThe Great Commandment”

“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” 37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart (Changes my PASSION), all your soul (Changes my PRINCIPLES), and all your mind (Changes my PERSPECTIVE).’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.  A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself (Changes my PRIORITIES).’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:36-40

Core Value: We are committed to a Culture of Grace and Truth.

John 1:14 - “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

    We welcome everyone with Grace.

    We challenge everyone with Truth.

    We CELEBRATE the change!

3. CONTRIBUTE to the Community.

We believe that joy and generosity are part of the lifestyle that God has called us to.

1 Corinthians 9:6-7 says, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”  God has a purpose for everyone and He has given each of us gifts and abilities that we are to use to contribute to the community.  True joy comes from giving, so we are committed to leading the way in generosity with our TIME, with our TALENT and with our TREASURE.

This is our responsibility in “The Great Community”

“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders (Everyone was CONNECTED). And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— 47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people (Everyone CONTRIBUTED).  And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved (Everything was CONTAGIOUS).” - Acts 2:42-47

Core Value:  We are committed to Unity in the Family.

We lead the way with generosity.

We do not tolerate gossip or division.

    We CONTRIBUTE to the community!

Our Beliefs:

Crossroads Community Church belongs to the global Church of the Nazarene.

The Church of the Nazarene is a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. Organized in 1908, the denomination is now home to about 2.3 million members worshipping in more than 29,000 local congregations in 159 world areas.

We Are A Christian People

As members of the global Church, we join with all believers in proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord and affirm the historic creeds and beliefs of the Christian faith. We value our Wesleyan-Holiness heritage and believe it to be a way of understanding the faith that is true to Scripture, reason, tradition, and experience.

We Are a Holiness People

God, who is holy, calls us to a life of holiness - He wants us to become more like Him!  We believe that the Holy Spirit seeks to do in us a second work of grace, bringing us to a place of full surrender where God sanctifies us, empowers us to love Him with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and produces in us the character of Christ.

We Are a Missional People

Responding to the call of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to go into all the world, we are witnesses to the power of Jesus Christ and participants with God in the building of His Church. Through worship, evangelism, compassion, and Christian higher education, we equip people to become more like Jesus.

These are the essential beliefs that we hold to be true:
  • We believe in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, who being one with the Father, became like us to bring about our salvation.
  • We believe that the Bible is the word of God and that it contains all truth necessary for faith and Christian living.
  • We believe that man is born with a fallen nature and that we need God’s forgiveness for our sin.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose again, and that by believing in Him, anyone can be forgiven and restored to a right relationship with God.
  • We believe that when we are forgiven, the old record of sin is wiped clean, and we are born again, becoming part of the family of God.
  • We believe that God calls us to be entirely sanctified, and that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can live victorious lives of freedom with hearts fully surrendered to Him.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.
  • We believe that those who have placed their faith in Jesus will have an eternal home with Him in heaven, and that those who reject Him will be hopelessly and eternally lost.
  • We believe that Jesus will return, the dead will rise, and the final judgment will take place.

Our History:

Crossroads Community Church was originally incorporated as “Elkhart First Church of the Nazarene” in 1919, when 37 charter members met to worship in a large room above Woolworth’s Dime Store on Main Street, in Elkhart.  It was a small group who believed strongly in the church’s teaching of living a life fully surrendered to God.

This group grew to a congregation of 175 and built their first building in 1924 on Scott Street near Elkhart General Hospital. In 1962 the congregation moved to building constructed at the corner of Benham & Hively in order to have an impact on the thousands of people who lived and worked in the surrounding neighborhoods.

In 1995, after many years maximizing the church’s limited space, the Board made the difficult decision to sell the property and relocate. This move was driven by the vision to reach more people for God in the changing culture.  After meeting at Concord Middle School for several years, a search committee identified 38 acres of property on County Road 17, which today makes up our Goshen Campus and the Crossroads Professional Park.  Our Goshen Campus was completed in 2002 with an addition in 2006.  God has honored the step of faith that was taken by our leadership and Crossroads has grown from the group of 75 people that met at Concord Middle School to the 1,700 that attend Crossroads each weekend today.  With over 100 people baptized in the last year, we are celebrating the change that happens when people connect with God!

Today our vision is to maximize our resources by connecting people with God as one church with multiple locations.  We launched our Warsaw Campus in the fall of 2015 (Now at Lakeland Christian Academy) and our Mishawaka Campus in the fall of 2017 (Now at the Battell Center).  Our goal is to have 4 satellite campuses by 2020 and to be connecting thousands of people with God each weekend!
